Street Division
Street Division is responsible for the maintenance and minor
repair (pothole patching) of nearly 62 miles of Village streets.
Major repairs are undertaken through Annual Street Improvement
programs. The division also maintains nearly 8,000 lineal feet
of crosswalks and 73,100 lineal feet of various pavement
markings. We also maintain and oversee the following:

Street sweeping

Snow plowing and street salting of municipal streets

Sidewalks

Street sign installation and maintenance along municipal
streets

Barricades and guardrails
-
Bus shelters (4 locations)

Debris removal on state and county right-of-ways
-
Four (4) Bridges
-
One (1) Pedestrian overpass
-
Street lights (1100)
Note: An additional 250 street lights on wooden poles are
owned and maintained by Commonwealth Edison.
Complaint handling, citizen assistance, and inspection of
related public improvements are additional duties of our Street
Division staff. We also provide flood assistance, storm damage
clean up and support other Divisions and Departments in their
emergency operations.
