Department of Public Works Overview

Public Works building The Public Works Department is comprised of Administration Division, Utility (Water & Sewer) Division, Street Division, Capital Projects & Design Division, Fleet Services Division, Building Services Division and newly created Forestry Division to maintain, operate, repair, design, construct/reconstruct and/or inspect the Village's streets, sidewalks, street lightings, signage, traffic controls, sanitary/storm sewer collector and conveyance system, water distribution system, parkways, trees, municipal buildings, various municipal parks, fountains, cemetery, commuter railroad station and parking lots and the municipal fleet.

The Public Works Department overall budget is comprised of various Divisions and funds that are guided by policies that value maintaining the lowest possible cost. The focus is on maintaining present service levels first.
