Wheeling Prepares Teen Drivers and
Parents on New Laws
The Wheeling Police Department is working hard to make sure
parents and teens know about the current laws and the changes
that will take effect January 1, 2008. Traffic crashes are the
leading cause of death for teens. On January 1, 2008 Illinois
will have one of the most comprehensive Graduated Drivers
License programs in the country.
Wheeling police officers held a parent/teen driving seminar
November 14, 2007 and January 9, 2008 at the Wheeling Village Hall, along with a
representative of the Secretary of State's office, Wheeling High
School drivers education department and Allstate Corp. Sgt.
Panagakis of the Wheeling Police Department- Traffic Enforcement
Unit made it very clear that the laws will be enforced
aggressively and that the parents must demand that their teen
drivers follow the laws, too.
Please call Sergeant Pete Panagakis at
(847)459-2993 if you have any questions or concerns. You can
