Doing Business in Wheeling
Wheeling's reputation as a strong industrial center remains
untarnished. The Village has over twelve million square
feet of industrial space and continually leads nearby
communities with its low vacancy rate in the category (Source:
Grubb & Ellis Survey of North Suburban Vacancy Rates).
Wheeling is also home to over 470 commercial and retail
establishments, bringing the total of licensed businesses in the
Village to approximately 850. Wheeling's unemployment rate has historically been lower than
the Chicago PMSA and the State of Illinois rates as shown by
Illinois Department of Employment Securities statistics, every
year for the past decade. Employment growth continues to
be the rule in the Wheeling marketplace.
The Wheeling/Prospect Heights (WPH) Area Chamber of Commerce
and Industry is the local business advocacy organization in Wheeling.
It is their goal to maintain a friendly and progressive
community and advance the well being of the Wheeling and
Prospect Heights area. The WPH Chamber is organized to
work for its members, each of which has access to programs,
events, publications and benefits offered through membership.
The Chamber also acts as a liaison for that business member to
the community.
