Wheeling Town Center Becomes a Reality
The new $110 million Wheeling Town Center is located in the heart of Wheeling. This transit-oriented development serves as Wheeling’s downtown anchor which is immediately adjacent to the 100-acre Heritage Park, Wheeling Park District Gym, Community Center and Aquatic Center, Wheeling Metra Station, and Wheeling’s municipal campus. The Wheeling Town Center features 301 luxury apartment units and 100,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space. The anchor tenant, CMX CinéBistro, is a state-of-the-art movie theater that is connected to CMX Stone Sports Bar - a restaurant and bar located in the lounge of the theater that is open to the public. City Works Eatery and Pour House, Starbucks Coffee, Inland Bank, and AT&T opened their doors in 2019. A number of restaurants opened in 2020, including Eggsperience, Mia’s Cantina and Arctic Spoon with more businesses opening up in 2021. Some parcels are still available for build-to-suit.
A $90 Million Mixed-Use Development Rises at 500 W. Dundee Road
Uptown 500, located at the northwest corner of Dundee Road and Northgate Parkway is nearing completion. Uptown 500 includes 321-unit luxury apartments and 12,000 square feet of ground floor retail. Residential leasing, which began in 2020, is off to a strong start. Wieland utilizes their Wheeling, IL facilities for the production of semi-finished products in copper and copper alloys. This new facility effectively doubled the size of the production footprint of their Wheeling campus and helped solidify their footprint in Wheeling for the long-term.
